    Hi Michael,

To see the link format, just navigate to the section in your WebHelp you want to link to, and copy the link from the address bar. For example:

    http://na.justsystems.com/webhelp/en/xmetalauthor/enterprise/6.0/XMEE.html#Supported%20display%20formats

This link takes you to XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0 User's Guide > Authoring structured content > Inserting elements > Images > Supported display formats

The “format” is just the URI of the WebHelp page + “#” + URI encoding of the title of the topic.

    cdybdahl,

We have not tested for the upper limit of map size for Webhelp. I would be interested to see where it's failing, so if you are able to please send me a .zip of the webhelp output folder to chris dot johnson at justsystems dot com.

That said, one of the goals of the Webhelp feature preview is to gather feedback from the XMetaL community. So speak up people, what's the (typical) size of the maps you are using in production?

    mmoulder,

Currently there is no mechanism for localizing the Webhelp interface; we have looked at implementing this feature but we do not have a timetable at this point in time.

In the interim, there's nothing stopping you from implementing a client-side solution, using jQuery to get the language attribute from the content html and using that information to modify the interface strings. Use a flag to set this *once* per webhelp session, so the UI isn't updating every time the iframe content changes.

If you have any preference how localization should be implemented for webhelp, please let us know.

    Thanks,

    – Chris

    Hi mzwecker,

Thanks for your feedback – we are working on enhancing the search, and we would be interested in hearing your requirements in more detail.

“all browsers” is a pretty open requirement, — webhelp was tested on Firefox 3+, Internet Explorer 6+, and Safari 3+, — could you provide screen shots, along with browser / OS version?

If you would like to provide more detail on the difficulties your developers were having, please contact me at chris dot johnson at justsystems dot com

    Cheers,

    Hi Pmoan,

Two ways come to mind for handling arbitrary page breaks:

    1. Insert processing instructions (PIs) into your XML, and implement PI processing like the DocBook XSL library:
    http://www.sagehill.net/docbookxsl/PageBreaking.html#HardPageBreaks

    2. Add an outputclass attribute to the figures that need a page break before them, and write an XSL template to catch these cases.

I've had decent luck with method #2.

    Hi Bzebian,

I don't know which version of XMetaL / DITA OT you're using, but try this format for ANT params passed via the XMetaL Configure Output dialog:

    DSDK_PARAM_ftr =  c:program filescommon filesxmetal shareddita_otresourcecustom-eclipse-ftr.html

As long as the footer file is well-formed XML, you should be ok.

    Hi Charter,

If you don't want to abandon your customizations, I would suggest disabling/enabling parts of your customization to narrow down the problem. Just remove all of the xsl:import statements to your XSL override files, and then add them back one at a time.

It could be an attribute, possibly the “__force__page__count” attribute set from [DITA_OT]/demo/xmfo/Customization/fo/attrs/xm-cfg/commons-attr.xsl, or perhaps your customization overrides some of the  templates in [DITA_OT]/demo/xmfo/Customization/fo/xsl/xm_layout_masters_overrides.xsl.

    Good luck,

    – Chris

    All,

Here's a code snippet you can paste into links.xsl to generate the link text for task steps. The file links.xsl is in the xmfo folder:

    [DITA_OT]/demo/xmfo/xsl/links.xsl

Paste it *before* the xsl:when for topic/li (an excerpt of the topic/li xsl:when is shown below):

    … (omitted for brevity) …

[XM 20091224] XMetaL task step link mod

    Step

    … (omitted for brevity) …

Remember to read the following post regarding deployment of the DITA OT (to make sure you are modifying the right copy of links.xsl):

    Hi Chartered,

Are you working with a customization of the PDF output? In the stock PDF2 and PDF3 transforms, chapters do start on an odd page. Try removing your customization and see if this is the culprit.

    Hi valtteri,

Add the following to your customization:

    1in
    0.75in
    1.25in
    1in

    Note:
    1. If you are running XMetaL 5.5, the DITA_OT/demo/xmfo/attrs/custom.xsl file may be in your user directory. See this forum thread for details:
    http://forums.xmetal.com/index.php/topic,180.msg549.html#msg549

    2. Margins can be specified in in, mm and cm. “inner” and “outer” refer to the left- and right-margins on an odd-numbered page. This is for double-sided output. If you want single-side output, just give “xm.page.margin.inner” and “xm.page.margin.outer” the same value.

    3. Orientation can be portrait or landscape

    4. Sizes supported are letter, legal, tabloid, A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6 and A7.

    Valtteri,

Try overriding the “place-fig-lbl” template in your customization; you'll see references to a variable called $fig-count-actual, which deals with numbering.

The template can be found here:

    [DITA_OT]/xsl/xslhtml/dita2htmlImpl.xsl

    Hi bzebian,

The xhtmlsCustom_Assets and xhtmlsCustom_Assetscustom_files folders are used by the single HTML output – they have nothing to do with the multiple HTML output.

To help with debugging your modifications to the ANT task, try putting in a few statements to see if you have the right task / target, and that ${output.dir}, ${imagelist}, ${user.input.dir} and ${dita.resource.dir} are set to what you expect them to be.

Sorry Chartered – copy/paste error – I meant the “insertReferenceTitle” template, not the “processTopicTitle” template:

For “insertReferenceTitle”, add a variable called “level” after the “element” variable:

Further down in the template, just before the element, modify the topic/title match:

For your second question, I'd need more info – can you post a zip with a map and topic files that show the problem?

    Maria,

Another approach would be to use two paragraphs:

    Sentence one.

    Sentence two.
