XMetaL Temporary files

Other than manually clearing the %temp% folder periodically, is there a way to reduce the unnecessary files XMetaL creates? XMetaL seems to leave a bunch of files behind over time ( SAV?????.xml, ditaot-#####.log) from just a 2 week period there is over 100, 0kb ditaot-#####.log files.

July 11, 2011 at 9:25 pmI see these two particular file types showing up while I generate output for a DITA map. There is no way to get around that as they are required for output generation. However, they should be (very) temporary as they are removed at the end of the generate output process. In all my tests I see them appear, they are consumed and then when output is complete they are deleted.
Perhaps in your case output is failing and so the code that cleans these up never runs?
