Xmetal Author override default settings / values
July 29, 2022 at 10:00 amParticipants 2Replies 2Last Activity 7 months, 2 weeks agoXMetal newb here, installed the trial of Author Enterprise 16.0 x64 …
I am looking at the XMetal Author sample called “DITA”, installed in
C:\Program Files\XMetaL 16.0\Author\Samples\DITAThe one whose root map node is called “Using World Time Pro”
I ran “Generate Output for DITA Map” which resulted in a new directory called “webhelp_out”.
In the webhelp_out directory tree is is a file called
webhelp_out\xmwebhelp\script\common_param.jsThis file contains one statement:
var gHomePage=”http://na.justsystems.com”;If I run the help web page there is a Home button which when clicked, goes to the above URL.
Some questions about this:
1. Where does the default value for gHomePage (ie. “http://na.justsystems.com”) come from?
2. How can I override the value of gHomePage for my own DITA project so that every generate uses my custom value and not the default?
Thank you for any suggestions.

August 11, 2022 at 6:06 pmOk — thanks for that.
Let’s say I have two web help projects, and each project requires a distinct home page URL.
ie.
– http://project_2.com/barHow do I accomplish that without manually editing the file you pointed to each time I generate one of the projects?
