XMetaL 6.0 changing XML files on save?
March 24, 2010 at 4:25 amParticipants 1Replies 2Last Activity 12 years, 10 months agoHi All
I'm in the process of testing XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0.0.122 before we upgrade from 5.1.
When I save files, they are being changed. It looks like the XML output is tidier, it's consistently indented and long lines are split so it's easier to read. However this is inserting tab and space characters within text elements which is is affecting DITA outputs.
It appears the new version of XMetaL is tidying up XML files, whereas 5.1 didn't. Is there a setting where I can change this behaviour?

March 24, 2010 at 6:54 pmWe refer to this feature as pretty printing.
You can toggle this feature off/on for DITA documents by running two different scripts we provide and are listed in the Macros toolbar:
DITA Configuration: Turn OFF Pretty-Printing
DITA Configuration: Turn ON Pretty-Printing -
