XMetal 4.6 and 5.5 appear to start and then disappear
February 24, 2010 at 6:03 pmParticipants 2Replies 3Last Activity 13 years, 1 month agoWe see the splash screen and then it goes away. There is no XMetal under processes in task manager.
We are moving from 4.6 to 5.5 any day now. So when 4.6 didn't work, I tried the CTRL startup and reinstalled our custom code and when I run it xmetal came up but as soon as we tried to open a file it disappeared. So I un installed 4.6 and ran the xmclean.exe utility.
Then I installed 5.5 and our House customizations. When I click on the icon we see t he splash screen for about 5 deconds then nothing. After a reboot and repair I tried to uninstall 5.5 and it ran a while and then said “can't find (sorry I forgot the name) C:Program FilesXMetal5.5???.ini retry/continue.
Then a installation failure message.

February 24, 2010 at 6:30 pmThere is an issue that only affected the 5.1 release that sounds similar but would not be the same issue you are seeing in 4.6 or 5.5:
http://forums.xmetal.com/index.php/topic,184.0.htmlYour issue sounds very specific to your organization (as we have no other reports) and would probably best be dealt with as a standard support case. Best to submit your customizations together with the case as it is very possible the issue is being triggered by something there.
The quickest test to confirm that would be to install the product without your customizations and see if it occurs then.

February 24, 2010 at 6:51 pmI anticipated that thinking and that's why I tried to remove 5.5 and put it back on without Kirsten's customizations. But the uninstall failed as I mentioned. Do you have n XMClean for 5.5
