Workplace arrangement of Attribute Inspector and Element List not being saved

Windows Server 2008
————————————Our customers use to arrange the attribute inspector and element list vertically docked on the right side of the window. Under Xmetal Author v6 that sort of arrangement was saved and restored after restarting XMetal. We're now upgrading to v8 and could not find a way to save these settings persistently. The attribute inspector and element do always appear hidden after restart.
We have the same issue when setting the “Tags On View” in the options menu. The option turns back to default aftter restart. However, the arrangement of the toolbars is saved and restored.
Is there a way to save these settings and arrangements together with the workplace or do we need some sort of macro that runs on startup to fix the issue?
Thanks,

October 24, 2014 at 12:42 amI cannot reproduce this issue.
The software remembers the position of these windows by writing and reading values to the Windows registry (the same as in older versions). Perhaps some 3rd party software (this might include an integration with a CMS or similar) is either writing over the XMetaL Author settings or blocking them from being written.
Check to see that all of the keys within this location in the registry have full permission:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSoftQuadXMetaL 8.0If they don't then that's the issue.
If they do then it would be best to contact XMetaL Support directly and provide an export of the registry from that point (listed above).
They can then compare that with a default install to see if any values look weird. After that I'm not sure what would need to be done. You could also try upgrading to 9 instead to see if that helps.
