Using different DITA Toolkit?
October 7, 2009 at 10:20 pmParticipants 1Replies 0Last Activity 13 years, 5 months agoI have made a fair amount of changes to the Toolkit and kept as much as can be as plug-ins. I was wondering how significantly different the Toolkit that Xmetal comes with is from the standard Toolkit. I’m wondering this because I want to know how hard it’s going to be to update to a newer toolkit version or potentially the near future the Toolkit on a CMS system. I know the last time the toolkit had an update the standard replace the Toolkit folder for Xmetal did not work that well and there was a temporary patch. I have compared the files and folder structure of the Standard Toolkit and the Xmetal Toolkit and there are tones of files modified between the two versions. It’s hard to tell what are significant changes such as all the xmfo stuff and what will not affect anything such as the JustSystems copyright added to the top of the apache license file.
Anyways I’m just wondering how much of setback it will be changing to a different Toolkit than what comes with Xmetal and how long it might take to get the output formatting and everything back to how it was. -
