Problems with File Event Macros in 5.5
July 8, 2009 at 2:43 pmParticipants 1Replies 2Last Activity 13 years, 7 months agoWe have a problem with the File Operation Event Macros. We have an event macro “File_Exit” which gets invoked when we close the XMetal Author application.
For some reason, in the higher versions of XMetal such as 5.5 this event macro is not getting invoked, which results in the failure of closing of XMetal. I tried this out in XMetal 3.0 where it worked as desired.
Is this a defect in the product? Or something wrong with the set up in our application?

July 9, 2009 at 5:45 pmXMetaL Support is dealing with this offline as a specific customization and specific version of XMetaL Author Enterprise is involved. I will update this page once we figure out what the issue is so others can benefit.

July 27, 2009 at 5:26 pmThere is no real solution for this with XMetaL Author Enterprise 5.5 without hacking the scripts we ship if you wish to keep the DITA functionality.
If you do not require DITA editing you may disable it entirely by removing the following files:
Startup_dita_services.mcr Startupditamap.mcr
The issue should not affect XMetaL Author Essential 5.5 as it does not ship with a customization that uses these events and is essentially a clean slate upon which to build your application-level customizations. XMetaL Development is aware of the inconsistency between these two products and is looking to see if they can resolve it for our next release. -
