Problem with Topic Headings in bookmaps (and workaround) in Webhelp output
August 31, 2012 at 2:23 pmParticipants 1Replies 0Last Activity 10 years, 5 months agoI've been using a parent bookmap, with references to “regular” ditamaps. It's a big doc project, so I've been using “Topic Headings” to force my chapter-level topics down a level. This problem occurs in XM7, but not XM6. To create the problem:
Using XM7, insert a Topic Heading to a ditamap or bookmap.
Enter a navtitle on the General tab and click OK.
Generate Webhelp output.
In the generated output, notice that the Topic Heading appears as “Null” in the webhelp TOC.The workaround is to open up the Topic Heading's properties and change to the Other Attributes tab.
Enter a “navtitle”. That one will result in the text you want in the Webhelp output.Note that this overall procedure might not be the intended use of Topic Headings. Open to suggestions on that.
