OS: Windows 7 SP1 running in a VMware Fusion 4.1.2 virtual machine
There is no “breathing room” in our normal table output; in many cases the text from one column butts into the beginning of the next column, as shown in the attached file. Choice tables and simple tables don’t have this issue.
What files would have control over this?

This isn't really an XMetaL issue, the table output for PDF is controlled by stylesheets.
You have to find the file , or file(s) that define the following attribute set “tbody.row.entry__content” in the DITA OT demo/xmfo/… folder structure and then add increase the margin/padding attribute.
