    XMEE 6.0 on Windows 7

I was trying to build my PDFs in Chinese and Japanese and found that my characters aren't appearing. I used the steps that Derek outlined for XMEE 5.1, but still can't get the fonts to embed into the PDF. Is there something different or different files I need to change for XMEE 6.0?

There is no difference. You do have to make sure you are modifying the correct files though. See this forum post regarding “deployment” in 5.5 (which applies to 6.0 as well):

So I made the changes and forced it to redeploy, and it worked for all languages including Japanese, except for Chinese both simplified and traditional. Are these controlled by the CJK Unified if so this is set to be arialunicodeMS  as well. I also added a Simplified Chinese as well, which had no affect in the font-mappings. I changed all font-mappings files I could find to no affect. I also have the following in the xep.xml file:

A more comprehensive procedure for making Japanese and Simplified Chinese characters appear is here: http://forums.xmetal.com/index.php/topic,968.0.html
