Intellisense in Visual Studio not working within XMetal-Projects
May 25, 2009 at 10:01 amParticipants 3Replies 4Last Activity 13 years, 10 months agoWe are currently developing several solutions with XMetaL 5. Since XMetaL 4 there seems to be no built-in macro editor anymore so we had to license Visual Studio 2008 for that. Unfortunaly XMetaL-specific Intellisense does only work with old versions of Visual Studio (AFAIK 2005).
When will JUST patch this? Working without IntelliSense is really a pain in the neck and not really acceptable for us.

May 25, 2009 at 8:14 pmMore recent releases of Microsoft’s VS .NET (2008 specifically) dropped the mechanism XMetaL Developer utilizes to provide IntelliSense for XMetaL objects. JustSystems has actively tried to resolve this issue but has not yet found a workaround to restore the Intellisense functionality.
We suspect Microsoft dropped statement completion for “new ActiveXObject()” because it has the potential to expose the system to viruses.

May 26, 2009 at 7:49 amHello Derek Read,
that's bad news. Is there a general way to achieve IntelliSense in VS 2008/2010 then at all?

May 26, 2009 at 5:59 pmWe may need to implement an entirely different method and that's what we're looking into. So, we don't have an answer for this yet.
The only known workaround at this time is to use an older version of VS (2005 for example), which of course is not really an option for many people.
