Intellisense in Visual Studio not working within XMetal-Projects

We are currently developing several solutions with XMetaL 5. Since XMetaL 4 there seems to be no built-in macro editor anymore so we had to license Visual Studio 2008 for that. Unfortunaly XMetaL-specific Intellisense does only work with old versions of Visual Studio (AFAIK 2005).

When will JUST patch this? Working without IntelliSense is really a pain in the neck and not really acceptable for us.

More recent releases of Microsoft’s VS .NET (2008 specifically) dropped the mechanism XMetaL Developer utilizes to provide IntelliSense for XMetaL objects. JustSystems has actively tried to resolve this issue but has not yet found a workaround to restore the Intellisense functionality.

We suspect Microsoft dropped statement completion for “new ActiveXObject()” because it has the potential to expose the system to viruses.

    Hello Derek Read,

that's bad news. Is there a general way to achieve IntelliSense in VS 2008/2010 then at all?

We may need to implement an entirely different method and that's what we're looking into. So, we don't have an answer for this yet.

The only known workaround at this time is to use an older version of VS (2005 for example), which of course is not really an option for many people.

I see. We additionally obtained visual studio 2005 in the meantime so I can live with that for a while.

    Thanks anyway,
