Install XMetaL Author Enterprise 6 w/o deinstalling XMetaL Author 4.6 ?
April 8, 2010 at 8:32 pmParticipants 4Replies 5Last Activity 12 years, 11 months agoHi!
Is there a way to install the XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0 – Trial without deinstalling XMetaL Author 4.6 ? I would like to test it but can't change the productive system.
Thanks!
Ulrich

April 8, 2010 at 9:47 pmYou cannot do this on the same installation of Windows. The only real way to do this is to run multiple copies of Windows on the same machine and install a different version of XMetaL Author in each.
Essentially what this really means is running Windows in a virtual machine of some kind (such as Microsoft Virtual PC or VMWare).

I think I'll try it with Virtual Box.

April 9, 2010 at 8:13 pmVirtual Box is running.
But during XMetaL 6 installation I'm getting an error (XMetaL6inVB1.png).
After 'Ignore' the installation process is proceeded but close before end it stops with a second message (XMetaL6inVB2.png).Do you have an idea how to get it running?
Best regards,
Ulrich

After I've got the same error messages with VMware Workstation, I thought it must be the Windows XP Prof SP 1. So I tried SP 2 and now, everything is fine. Thanks again!
