How to add an XEP customization to XMetaL?
January 9, 2013 at 6:58 pmParticipants 2Replies 3Last Activity 10 years agoWe made a customization for XEP PDF rendering. How can this be deployed in XMetaL? We also use specific fonts. Where should these be stored, or where is the XEP.xml to be modified?
thanks,
Wim Hooghwinkel

January 9, 2013 at 8:27 pmYou can do this in one of two places:
C:Program FilesCommon FilesXMetaL Sharedrenderx
If you change that one then the DITA OT will need to be redeployed. Redeploying copies the DITA OT (and XEP and other required things the DITA OT requires from the XMetaL Shared folder) to the location below. If you change the deployed copy (as below) then those changes will be lost if you redeploy the DITA OT (as it will be overwritten with a copy from the location listed above):
%appdata%SoftQuadXMetaL SharedrenderxWhich you choose will depend on how you work (whether or not you take advantage of the redeployment feature and perhaps how your authors work).

January 10, 2013 at 10:42 amHi Derek,
in other workflows we point to a customization folder to be used, either by using the tools interface or adding a customization.dir argument. We don't modify the default OT or XEP files directly.
Can we do this in XMetaL as well – if so where to use the customization.dir parameter?
thanks,
Wim

January 10, 2013 at 3:37 pmHi Derek,
I tried both ways:
– added customization.dir=to the 'Other output parameters' in Edit Deliverable Type – copied the customization folder to C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesXMetaL SharedDITA_OTdemofoCustomization AND to C:UsersWimAppDataRoamingSoftQuadXMetaL SharedDITA_OTdemofoCustomization
but it doesn't seem to be picked up.
the log file mentions:
C:Program Files (x86)XMetaL 7.0Author>set customization.dir=L:VISMA-templatecustomization-visma-fofoCustomizationWhat else can we do?
Thanks,
