How do I amend my pdf output from XMetal?
February 10, 2009 at 7:30 amParticipants 2Replies 3Last Activity 14 years, 1 month agoI'm a newbie/novice to XMetal and XML. I need to change the layout of my pdf output from XMetal. I have heard of publishing engines and stylesheet editors, but am unsure what these will give me and whether I will have to learn a whole new programming language to get what I need? Can anyone advise please?

February 10, 2009 at 6:59 pmAre you using DITA or another document type? If you're using DITA there is information in the XMetaL online help that may get you started. In XMetaL 5.5 it's Appendix C. (I think in XMetaL 5.1 it was Appendix B.) The general subject area is fairly technical in nature. You can get by to a certain extent without “really” knowing XSLT, but the more you want to do with your output, the likelihood of needing to know something about it increases quickly.

March 12, 2009 at 5:51 pmHi,
at the moment i am trying to modify my specialized DITA PDF output like described in the online help.
The problem is: All changes will be totally ignored, even if i delete the “applicationdata/SoftSquad” folder manually before processing.
Any ideas?
Thx a lot…
