Creating endnotes

Hello,

One of the things we are currently trying to implement is support for endnotes. It doesn't need to be a full-blown reference management system, but we do need the following:

• Have all endnotes at the very end of the chapter
• Able to refer/link to pre-existing endnotes
• Where references/links exist, numbering should be automatically updated (say if an endnote above the one referenced is deleted)

Currently this is done by hand, and whenever an endnote needs to be deleted, we need to go through the entire chapter by hand and update references, which we would like to avoid.

Is there any way to do this, any standard method of doing something like this?
