Configuring the "XMetaL Enhanced PDF via RenderXXEP" ouput option?
August 17, 2010 at 1:14 pmParticipants 2Replies 3Last Activity 12 years, 7 months agoWhen generating output using the “XMetaL Enhanced PDF via RenderXXEP” option, the resulting PDF includes two front matter pages and displays as “bookmarks and page.” Is there a way to configure this output option to dispense with the front matter and display the page only? Right now I'm having to modify every PDF I create.

Yes, it can be done by modifying files in the DITA Open Toolkit. Unfortunately I don't know the exact answer for this particular question, however the following 37-minute webinar will probably be helpful:

August 19, 2010 at 12:56 amThanks, Su-Laine.
So is it safe to assume that XMetaL itself uses the DITA Open Toolkit to generate PDFs, and that I can configure one of the files to my specifications?
I was hoping for something simpler, but this is DITA, after all.

Yes, that's correct. This article describes where to find the files for configuring PDF output: http://forums.xmetal.com/index.php/topic,939.0.html .
Customizing PDF output is probably the least simple aspect of implementing DITA. Good luck!
