Application off centered
April 16, 2015 at 2:24 pmParticipants 4Replies 5Last Activity 7 years, 11 months agoHello,
We are using XMetaL Version#: 9.0.0.053 and we have had a few bugs in it since moving from XMetaL 6.0 to it. One thing is the application is not centered on the screen and seems to be cut off on the left side of the screen. Please take a look at the screenshot attached to this post. Don't mind the messy toolbars in the screenshot, I am in the midst of experimenting with them but the cut off screen is a problem for all users.
I have another case in which the user will launch XMetaL and their Windows taskbar will disappear and they have to go into task manager and rerun explorer.exe to get it to come back up. It only happens when they launch XMetaL.
Thanks,

April 17, 2015 at 7:24 pmFrom what I can tell the application is fully visible, it is just the application's icon in the title bar that is cut off. No idea at this point what might cause that. No other similar reports have come in (via XMetaL Support) so it seems to be unique to your installations.
For the user having trouble with explorer.exe I would recommend repairing Windows. If the trigger is in fact XMetaL Author Enterprise this is the first report as well. It sounds to me like it is just one machine at your location? After repairing Windows reinstall XMetaL Author Enterprise as well. If changes are made to XMetaL Author Enterprise (after our installer runs), skip doing those and test the application before making those changes. That will help you confirm whether the issue is triggered by the changes or occurs when running an unmodified installation.

April 17, 2015 at 7:49 pmYou first issue might be resolved by resetting the workspace. If it is messed up (how that would occur I don't know) resetting the workspace would at least put it into its default state. To do that launch XMetaL Author with the Ctrl key held down then answer “yes” when asked if you want to reset the workspace.

May 1, 2015 at 5:15 pmHi,
Restarting the workspace did not resolve the issue. It's not just my installation but all users at our company.
Thanks,

May 1, 2015 at 6:49 pmIf you can provide some more information about what might make your Windows installation unique I could try to set up a similar system to reproduce the issue here. Unfortunately, I don't know where you would begin looking. I doubt that this would be a compatibility issue with another application, so it is more likely to be due to software that integrates or modifies Windows itself, either changing it, or adding to it (display drivers would be one guess).
