Announcement: DITA 1.2 Configuration Kit Available
February 10, 2010 at 6:51 pmParticipants 15Replies 16Last Activity 13 years, 1 month agoOASIS is expected to release the DITA 1.2 specification in the coming months. We have a free basic DITA 1.2 Configuration Kit available now that allows you to edit DITA 1.2 topics in XMetaL, based on the most recent version of the draft DITA 1.2 DTDs.
The current version of the kit requires XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0 and is only available to organizations that have an NDA with JustSystems or are willing to sign one. If you are interested in trying it out, please contact me at syeo at justsystems dot com. We would appreciate your feedback.

March 4, 2010 at 7:48 pmHi,
I'm sorry, that was a typo in my original post. It said “justsytems” when it should be “justystems”.
Please try me at syeo at justsystems dot com.Su-Laine Yeo April 23, 2010 at 6:09 pm

May 12, 2010 at 2:53 pmThe release notes state that XMetaL must be installed in C:Program FilesXMetaL 6.0Author. I'm on a 64-bit Windows machine that automatically installed 32-bit programs to C:Program Files(x86)… does this mean that I can't install this version of the configuration kit, or is there a workaround?

May 14, 2010 at 11:08 pmHi Joanne,
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use this version of the configuration kit, as absolute paths are used in at least one configuration file. You could try doing a cross-file search-and-replace to change C:Program FilesXMetaL 6.0Author path strings to the ones you need, however we haven't tested that at all and I don't know if it will work. Good luck.
Cheers,

May 14, 2010 at 11:30 pmPlease also note that we have not officially tested XMetaL Author Enterprise on 64-bit hardware with any 64-bit versions of Windows and are not officially supporting such installations. If the product is working for you then that is good to hear as that means Microsoft's WOW64 emulator is doing a good job.
We do plan to officially support 64-bit hardware on some present or future 64-bit version of Windows.

Su-Laine,
Have there been any more releases of the Dita 1.2 Configuration Kit?
thanks, as always.Su-Laine Yeo June 14, 2010 at 10:20 pm

June 14, 2010 at 10:20 pmWe just released a version 0.5 of the configuration kit, however in terms of 5.5 compatibility, it's the same as before: We only support it with XMetaL 6.0, but you can try to hack it as described above to make it work with XMetaL 5.5. Future versions of the configuration kit will probably also be the same way, as we have to focus our QA resources on making sure this works as an upgrade to 6.0.
