This forum is really for discussion of technical issues, not sales information or contract information. So, confirm the following with our sales team directly.

I'm not sure you can purchase the software without a maintenance contract. It gives you the following:

1. Access to patches (service packs), hotfixes, and to new (major and minor) releases.
2. The ability to contact XMetaL Support for help.

Basically, without a maintenance agreement you would be stuck with the version you install when you purchase the software.
