Do you mean that the search failed or that the Results pane listed 200 files and you then opened every file for editing?

If so, can you not open the files in smaller groups? Perhaps 10 or 20 at a time? I'm not sure why you would open 100 or 200 files at the same time. Perhaps there is a specific reason for that that I am missing. If you were to try to do that with other software (eg: 200 web pages in IE or FireFox or 200 Word files in MS Word, 200 Excel files in MS Excel) would you expect your system to handle that?

If the initial “Spell Check in Files” operation itself is failing it would be best to send a copy of the files you are working with to XMetaL Support so that they can load them up and try to reproduce the issue. When they can reproduce an issue there is a better chance that they can describe it to the development team so they can fix it. This feature has gone through a lot of testing but there might be some scenarios with some types of file content that it does not handle well.
