I wondering if he might be more wondering about the custom dictionary files in the “my documents” folder. In windows 7 it’s a little different; there is a library and then the “Documents” folder in the library. The documents folder in the in library in windows 7 is used the same way the “my document’s” was in xp if i am not mistaken. XMetal saves the dictionary and example files to that folder. It is generally in %USERPROFILE%Documents. That could be changed though by the user. It can be set on a local user or in active directory on the user account in the home holder section on the profile tab in the user properties (I think). You could programmatically get that location from the registry in the key in HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell Folders.
Alternately you could use an absolute folder for the custom dictionary files.
