XMAX is a standard Windows ActiveX control that requires installation on the client machine to use. There is nothing different in this respect between the 4.x and 5.x releases.

You can install XMAX two ways:
1) By running a standard (InstallShield-based) Windows *.exe installer. It is possible to run this in silent mode so that you can incorporate the installation into another installer (as part of a VB application for example).
2) By configuring a web page to include an element that references the CAB version of the installer served from a web server and then visiting that page using Internet Explorer.
