In case of XMetal author I was using "Application.CustomProperties" to pass data between xft and the MXetal author. But in case of xmax how I can do that? thanks in advance.

XMAX, not having an Application object does not support the application version (as you are aware). You should be able to use ActiveDocument.CustomDocumentProperties in both products.
