when I add a new internal link to a topic, XMetal crashes. Sample link:
<link class="- topic/link " href="using_the_advisor_workflow.xml#using_the_advisor_workflow" type="topic" format="dita" scope="local"><linktext class="- topic/linktext ">Using the Advisor Workflow Tab</linktext></link>
Version: XMetal 6
OS: Windows XP, SP3

Do you happen to have McAfee anti-virus software installed?

If so, the issue may be related to this (where it discusses McAfee and "VirusScan"):
