A common question is, "What is the difference between the DITA deliverable types called
XMetaL Enhanced PDF via RenderX XEP and
XMetaL Enhanced PDF via RenderX XEP and Acrobat Distiller?"
The former option is available for users who do not have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Distiller on their machines.
The latter option requires Acrobat Distiller to be installed, and offers the following advantages:
- EPS graphics display better.
- You can configure security settings, such as requiring a password to modify or copy content from the PDF, in Acrobat Distiller. These settings will automatically be used for all PDF files created using the XMetaL Enhanced PDF via RenderX XEP and Acrobat Distiller option.
- For at least one of our customers, layered TIF images appear only when using XMetaL Enhanced PDF via RenderX XEP and Acrobat Distiller
