"On Insert"-Scripts do not work with selected content

Hello again,

For some elements I am calling VBScripts before inserting them into the document. I am using the "on Inser"-Property inside the CTM-configuration for that. Unfortunaly the "On Insert"-events fires only when no content is selected in the document (surround seems not to be supported).

My goal is to add the selected text as default value for an attribute of this element. As a workarround I simply added a extra button to get this to work. Is there any way to accomplish this another way?
