Can I customize XMetal background color for test server?

Can I customize the background color of XMetal, or some other type of customized notification, that lets the user know that they are logged in to the test server vs. the production server?  How can I do such a customized setting?

I have also wanted to do something similar to this but to be a different color or have a header notice when the file is in view only mode. I just have not gotten around to it for us. I would imagine it would require something like an on load macro or something.  Not sure you could edit the styling directly but you could saw CSS files.
