TOPLEAF: Adding custom characters on hyphenation?

Is there a way to insert a custom hyphen when breaking a line within a specified tag?
Previously, our handling of the codeblock tag in a PDF transform would insert a "hooked hyphen" / "optional hyphen" (¬) character when forced to break a line, to indicate that the sample code should not be reproduced exactly as shown in the PDF.
Currently, I have the codeblock handling pre-content set to specify <text-properties breakchars="" wordbreak="url"/>. I can update the break characters as we find specific exceptions, but I'm not sure what the best method is to add the hooked hyphen on a line break.

Hmmmm, I think I understand the requirement. I'll think about it and get back to you.
