Logging on to SharePoint repository

Using: XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0 Service Pack 1, Version 6.0.2.070, with XMetal Author Enterprise - SP Edition, Version 2.0.0.061.

We have set up a SharePoint site to use as our repository. I launch XMAE - SP, select menu item Repository, Repository Options, and enter our Repository URL. I select Repository, Open from Repository, enter my Username and Password in the "Login to SharePoint at <site name>" dialog, and I see the "Open from Repository" dialog. So far so good.

I create a new XML file (using File, New, and not Repository, New from Repository Template, if that matters), and save the file to disk.

Now I want to check it in to add it to the repository. But the menu item Repository, Check In Document is grayed out (and so are Explore Repository, Log On to Repository, and a few others).

How can I check my file in if these menu items are grayed out? Is the problem that I had to use a "repository template"?

Well, OK then. It seems that I can check it in if I place my template on the SharePoint site, and use Repository, New from Repository Template.

If you have not found it, there is a setting in the SharePoint connector configuration file that lets you tell XMetaL Author Enterprise the location of a folder on your SharePoint server to look in first for templates. My recommendation is to create a new folder that will store templates (only) then configure the SharePoint configuration "templateLocation" property to point to it. This can be made the same for all users, or they might all have their own folders. Even with this setting enabled you are still free to navigate around SharePoint to open files from elsewhere.

The section in that doc should be called "Configuration".
The particular setting is "templateLocation" listed in the table that contains the descriptions for all the various settings.
