We have recently upgraded from XMetaL 5.1 to XMetaL 6.0, and we are finding that it takes an extremely long time for XmetaL to accept all tracked changes (5 to 10+ minutes), which is a necessary step in our workflow. We have compared the speed to accept all tracked changes among our various machines (laptops & towers, all new with plenty of processing power), and they are all equally slow. The exception is the odd machine that still has XMetaL 5.1 on it, and even the slowest machine with this version can accept all tracked changes in seconds, not minutes. Is there something we can do about this?

Thanks!

This is a known issue that was introduced in XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0.1.030 when some major new features were added (including support for XInclude).

The solution is to install and use XMetaL Author Enterprise 6.0.2.070 (6.0 SP1) which restores the Accept All Tracked Changes functionality to its previous speed.

If for whatever reason you cannot run version 6.0.2.070 (usually this is because a CMS system or other 3rd party software integration does not yet support our current release) you may run the 5.5 release. The issue only affects 6.0.1.030.

I am using XMetaL XMetaL Author Essential 6.0 (6.01.035) and I have the same problem. Is it effect 6.01.035 as well? In addition, what is the XMetaL Author Essential (6.0 SP1) version number? is it the same as XMetaL Author Enterprise 6 (6.0 SP1) which is 6.0.2.070?  or different version number?

Yes, as this is core functionality (the feature is shared between XMetaL Author Enterprise and Essential) the fix should be the same in both products (of equivalent or later version).

XMetaL Author Essential 6.0 SP1 should report the same version in the Help > About dialog (6.0.2.070).

Can Track Changes be used to capture revisions to a document and display the content that was changed (highlighted) in the HMTL rendition?  If not, is there an existing element that will do such a thing in XMA 6.0?

Change Tracking (Revision Marks) are inserted as Processing Instructions (have a look at the XML source). Your transformation process would need to be coded to recognize them and then produce the code you wish to see in your HTML. So, basically the answer is yes, but it will require you (or the person that manages your transformation system, or perhaps one of our partners that specializes in this type of thing) to add this functionality into your transformation process.
