One or two maps for help and paper output?

I have XMetal 5.5 and Trisoft CMS 3.3.4.

I am planning to publish to context sensitive webhelp and to paper. The two outputs share the same source but

Paper manual includes additional front and rear matter and Introduction
Topics may contain paper and online only condtions
We plan to optimize for help but are required to deliver a paper version as well

Do you use one map for paper and one for online output or do you use the same map for both?

Hi Verner,

Either strategy could work. If a particular topic should appear in only one output format, you can make the topic reference in the DITA map conditional. Using different maps is fine too.
